Elissa Poma

Elissa-Bio-resizedElissa Poma is a special guest Good Nature author who works for World Wildlife Fund Travel Program, planning, marketing and writing about wildlife tours. She also is a contributing writer for WWF’s bimonthly newsletter, FOCUS. In addition to her work at WWF, Elissa has been a freelance travel writer for The Washington Post, Budget Travel magazine and other U.S. and international publications. She previously worked at The Washington Post for 11 years and prior to that, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Dallas Morning News. Originally from Philadelphia, Elissa has a journalism degree from George Washington University and lives in Washington with her husband, Oscar, a native of Peru. Elissa has traveled to the Amazon, the Seychelles, Micronesia, Costa Rica and Arctic Norway for WWF and is fluent in Spanish. On the side, she runs Washington DC’s largest and longest-running book club, is a volunteer teacher of English to immigrants and a landscape and figure painter.
