From glaciers to guanacos, from peaks to pampas, Patagonia contains some of the most gorgeous natural splendors on the planet. Few eyes capture it as vividly as Cassiano “Zapa” Zaparoli, an outstanding naturalist-photographer who is one of Natural Habitat Adventures’ premier Expedition Leaders in South America. Intimately familiar with Patagonia, Zapa’s  7-minute photo/video montage below is a gorgeous collection of nature images that pay tribute to the wildlife and landscapes of this ice-bound wilderness near the bottom of the world.

As you’ll see in the video journey above, Zapa has a special gift for photographing birds, though nothing is outside his expertise when it comes to getting great shots of all that makes Patagonia so dramatic.

Better yet, travel to Patagonia with Zapa yourself, and pick up on all his personalized photography tips! Zapa guides two of Nat Hab’s new Photography Expeditions in Latin America, the Patagonia Photo Expedition and our Classic Galapagos Photo Adventure. He also leads the regular Expedition Patagonia trip (on which you could almost certainly glean some photography advice as well, though it isn’t the primary focus). And we’d be remiss if we didn’t let you know that Zapa is also our expert naturalist guide for Brazil: Pantanal, Iguacu and Beyond, since Brazil is his homeland, and no one loves its wild nature more passionately than he.

See you down South,

Wendy
