Did you know that Antarctica is home to more than 10,000 species of penguins, whales, and seals – just to name a few – that are found nowhere else on earth? Unfortunately, Antarctica’s wildlife is facing immense pressure from commercial fishing and climate change.
Later this year, leaders from 25 countries representing The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) are meeting to decide whether or not to create the world’s largest marine preserves around Antarctica.
How can you help? Sign the Antarctic Ocean Alliance petition to encourage these leaders to make the right decision: to protect this fragile ocean ecosystem for generations to come. They are 86% of the way toward collecting 300,000 signatures. Our conservation partner, WWF, is a supporter of this petition.
